Circuit for experience-informed decision-making ID’d in rats
A few years ago, researchers supported by the National Institutes of Health discovered that the use awake mental replay of past experiences in rats is critical for learning and making informed choices. Recently, the team discovered important components of the underlying brain circuitry involved in these choices – including a unique system that encodes location during inactive periods.
