News Article of the Week Overconfidence in Technology May Influence Decision-Making Researchers at the University of Missouri found that people tend to overestimate the success rates of new technologies. They propose that this "technology effect" is driven by constant exposure to technology, where often only the successes, not the failures, are noted. This effect can influence important decisions including forecasts of business performance.
