Article of the Week How To Predict the Perfect Gift This holiday shopping season, Carnegie Mellon has put together a list of four tips for selecting the perfect gift, all of which are grounded in behavioral economics principles. For example, the first tip recommends remaining aware of perception bias--the tendency to believe that other people hold the same opinions and beliefs that we do. Another recommends thanking others for the gifts that they give us, citing research showing that gift-givers are less likely to put time and effort into selecting a gift for recipients who previously failed to express their thanks for a gift. |
