Bernd Figner, Eric J. Johnson, and Elke U. Weber In a series of studies using brain imaging and brain stimulation techniques, we are investigating the neural bases of intertemporal choices and temporal discounting. We are specifically interested in the neural processes underlying the asymmetry between delay versus acceleration decisions, which we use to test neural predictions derived from Query Theory . In addition, we are interested in the role of the lateral prefrontal cortex in self-control during intertemporal choice. We use low-frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation to investigate this question. |
